Welcome visitors old and new to our hall....

Village Hall from the field

North Weald Village Hall is situated in Essex, between Epping and Ongar. We are a registered charity, run by a dedicated band of volunteers. We have a large main hall capable of holding up to 150 people, a carpeted bar lounge suitable for up to 60 people and a small committee room. There is a full range of facilities, which includes a licensed bar, fully-fitted kitchen, full sized stage area with separate WC, disabled access/toilets with baby changing facilities, central heating and fire alarms. Behind the Village Hall we have a beautiful field for outdoor events and ample car parking facilities.

Our History

We were founded in 1928 with land donated by the old Marconi company. We are indebted to those founding fathers like Leonard Davis, who was our original Chairman right up until his death in 1969, or Harry Waterman (Watermans Way named after him) whose photo you can see in the hall, just before demolition of the old hall in 1966 and Frank Emberson (Emberson Way named after him). Our field, which is where we stage outdoor events, was gifted to us by the Post Office in 1953. The main hall was rebuilt in 1967, with only the rear stage area remaining from the old hall and finally, the bar lounge was added in 1987. We have to thank our generous funders, who over the years have helped us to keep our hall up to date, organisations like Essex County Council, Epping Forest District Council, Stansted Community Trust and The Grange Farm Centre Trust - their help has been invaluable.

Our objectives

We are here to provide public benefit by being a place of entertainment and education, which is open to all regardless of creed, colour or sex. You can hire our hall for a private party, but you will need permission of the committee.

Due to a lack of volunteers unfortunately future Adult parties (non community events) will now only be given permission in exceptional circumstances, until further notice.
